Petites Ateliers. Small workshops, which are slowly disappearing.
There are many small workshops in both the UK and France covering a wide range of trades. I am interested in documenting those that are threatened with closure. Obviously there are several reasons for this, not least of which are the declining demand for certain trades and the loss of cost effective premises.
In the case of this first workshop run by an internationally acclaimed saxophone repairer, the landlord intends to re-develop this former garage.
From the outside there is no indication at all of what happens behind these scruffy doors. Obviously you have to be in the know. As I first entered I was totally unprepared for the amazing magic within.
